Dragonfly Cam Size 3 Gold DMM

Advanced Camming Technology for Reliable Climbing Protection

The Dragonfly Cam Size 3 represents DMM's commitment to precision engineering in mobile protection devices. This size 3 cam overlaps seamlessly with Dragonfly Cams in sizes 4, 5, and 6, while also complementing traditional Dragon Cams in sizes 00 through 1, providing climbers with a comprehensive protection system for varied rock formations. The device's proven design has been refined through extensive field testing to deliver consistent performance across traditional climbing, sport climbing, and multi-pitch alpine routes.

Superior Holding Power and Contact Geometry

The 13.75° camming angle ensures optimal weight distribution and holding capability without excessive lobe stress. TripleGrip lobes featuring raw aluminum surfaces maximize friction and contact area against rock, preventing slippage during dynamic loading. The compact trigger bar design facilitates deep placements in constricted cracks, while the flexible stem cable adapts to irregular rock geometry and reduces excessive movement that compromises security. These features combine to create a cam that performs reliably in both vertical and horizontal cracks.

Practical Design for Field Deployment

The Dragonfly Cam Size 3 balances protection performance with practical usability through thoughtful design choices. Its narrow head width enables placement in tight pockets and constricted zones that larger cams cannot access, expanding your protection options on compact rock features. The ergonomic thumb loop and trigger mechanism operate smoothly under gloved conditions and during high-stress placement scenarios, reducing hand fatigue during long climbing sessions. The robust construction ensures durability across hundreds of placements without loss of camming integrity.

Efficient Sling System and Carry Integration

The extendable 11mm Dynatec sling with compact stitch pattern provides versatile anchor extension without excessive bulk in your rack. Each strand extends independently, allowing customized rope-to-rock geometry and equalization across multiple anchor points. The sling's reinforced stitching withstands repeated loading without fraying or delamination. When clipped to your gear loop or carabiner, the compact profile minimizes snag points and ensures rapid deployment during lead climbing or traditional climbing sequences.

Intended Use and Climbing Applications

The Dragonfly Cam Size 3 Gold DMM is optimized for sport climbers, traditional climbers, and alpinists tackling single-pitch crags, multi-pitch routes, and big wall climbs. This cam excels in parallel-sided cracks, slightly flaring pockets, and mixed rock conditions where mid-range protection is essential. Pairs effectively with complementary cam sizes to cover the full climbing spectrum. Suitable for indoor sport climbing practice, outdoor crag sessions, and alpine routes where reliable mobile protection determines safety and climbing success.
